Endorsement statements for Price

Kevin Brown

Former Superintendent, RUSD

As the former superintendent of the Rocklin Unified School District, I am endorsing Price Johnson for our school board because he understands and supports the role of parents, educators and the community in working collectively to maintain a high quality of education for our students.

It’s time for leadership that will listen to all voices and be committed to educating children first and setting aside politics.

Price will ensure fiscal accountability, support the work of staff, and expand opportunities for our students. I hope you’ll join me in voting for Price Johnson; a commonsense leader who will put the best interest of the School District above all else.

Denny Rush

Former Principal, Parker Whitney Elementary

Teacher, Rocklin and Sierra Elementary Schools

Superintendent Newcastle Elementary District

As a former Principal of Parker Whitney Elementary, a teacher at Rocklin and Sierra Elementary schools, and Superintendent of the Newcastle Elementary District, I’ve seen firsthand how vital it is for school boards and educators to work together in harmony. A culture of mutual respect between the board and employee groups is the cornerstone of a productive and enriching environment for students.

In our schools, education—not politics—should always be the focus. Personal political agendas belong in Sacramento, not in our classrooms or boardrooms. When politics takes precedence, it undermines the very foundation of education. Our students and staff should be empowered by knowledge, not divided by political ideologies. Unfortunately, the current Board has cultivated an atmosphere of distrust, leaving teachers and staff feeling unappreciated and unheard. This cannot continue.

That’s why I am proud to endorse Price Johnson for School Board. Price is not only a respected leader, but an engaged parent and dedicated community member who understands that parents and educators are essential partners in ensuring a top-tier education for our students.

It’s time to bring back common sense, transparency, and true collaboration to our schools. I encourage you to vote for Price Johnson, a leader who will foster the respect and partnership our students, parents, and teachers deserve.

Michelle Sutherland

Rocklin Unified School Board Trustee

As a current RUSD Board Member, I don’t take endorsement-making lightly. I know that when Rocklin voters elected me in 2022, each of you gave me a vote of confidence and trust that I would serve in the best interest of Rocklin students, no matter what. Over the past two years, I have supported expanded educational opportunities, school safety, and parent involvement.

So, why am I endorsing Price Johnson?

I first met Price when he contacted me as a concerned parent, seeking answers as to why the RUSD board was refusing to approve an elementary-level science curriculum that was supported by teachers and vetted by parents.

From there, I learned that Price was a Rocklin Elementary parent like me. He spends hours volunteering at the school every week; he has a wonderful wife and kind children. One day, my daughter came home so excited to tell me about how Price came into her class and not only helped the students develop their Egyptian board game projects, but also encouraged their interest in game development and gave them insights into the career field. Given that I am a parent who works full-time and can’t volunteer as much as I’d like, it makes me so thankful to hear about parents like Price who give the gift of their time and expertise to our school communities.

In any discussion, Price brings an earnestness that I really respect. I have personally seen that Price takes the concerns of any and all Rocklin parents just as seriously as if they were his own. He wants to understand, and genuinely wants to help. Transparency is a huge priority of Price’s, and I know that Rocklin voters expect nothing less.

Price will bring a positive, much needed change to Rocklin Unified School District!

Peter Hill,

George Magnuson,

Connie Cullivan,

& Ken Yorde

Former Mayors

One of the greatest assets Rocklin has had over the years as it has grown from a small town into the community it is today are our schools. They have drawn families to Rocklin because they know their children will get a great education and foundation for success.

Recently, however, a majority of our school board has lost sight of their job and have led the school district into statewide and national cultural and social issues that are divisive and have resulted in lawsuits and complaints. This does nothing to enhance the education of Rocklin children and is distracting.

That is why three former Mayors: George Magnuson, Connie Cullivan and Ken Yorde, have joined me in endorsing Price Johnson for Rocklin School Board in Trustee area 1.

As a parent and school volunteer we know he will work to refocus the school district on educating our children and grandchildren.

Wendy Lang

Former Rocklin School Board Trustee

As a former Rocklin School Board Trustee and district parent, I know what it takes to provide all kids with an excellent education, enrichment opportunities, and to care for their wellbeing.

It’s imperative to have a Trustee who can help create an inclusive environment where parents, students, teachers, administrators, and staff can work together.

I trust Price Johnson to be that Trustee

Jim Trimble

Former Principal, Rocklin Elementary & Sunset Ranch

As the former Principal of Rocklin Elementary School, I have seen firsthand how essential parental involvement is to the success of our students. Parents who actively participate in their children’s education—whether as classroom volunteers, field trip chaperones, members of the Parent-Teacher Club, or serving on the Site Council—play a crucial role in creating a thriving school environment. It takes a community to ensure our schools excel, and parents are a vital part of that community.

Price Johnson is a perfect example of a parent who has gone above and beyond in his commitment to both his children’s education and the broader needs of the District. After speaking with educators and staff, it is clear that Price has taken on every role available, from volunteering in classrooms to engaging with leadership initiatives that strengthen our schools. His dedication is tireless, and his willingness to step up wherever needed has earned him the respect of community members, educators, and fellow parents alike.

Price Johnson’s deep involvement and passion for the betterment of our schools make him the ideal candidate for the Rocklin Unified School District Board of Trustees. I wholeheartedly support his candidacy, and I encourage you to join me in voting for Price Johnson.

Respectfully,

Jim Trimble

Kim Turney

Rocklin Elementary Parent & Campus Volunteer Leader

I am endorsing Mr. Price Johnson to represent Area 1 for the Rocklin Unified School Board. Price has repeatedly demonstrated his commitment to students, staff, and the community. He is a dedicated volunteer and has a real pulse on the needs of our schools.

It is vital that Board members are able to put students above their personal political beliefs.

Price is committed to ensuring that Rocklin Unified continues to provide excellent education for all students.

Kasie Emery

Rocklin Elementary Aide, Parent, and Volunteer

This is the first time we have ever been able to elect a School Board Member who not only resides in our community, but is able to represent specific local schools, we as the parents have a unique opportunity to really dive into what we are wanting in a School Board Member.

As someone in their 9th year as a parent and an employee in their 7th year at Rocklin Elementary, I want a Trustee who has shown their commitment to our school and community. I am looking for someone who puts in the time and does the real work that not only benefits our school, but then RUSD as a whole. I have yet to see that with the other candidate.

Price Johnson is a candidate who is walking the walk. I have seen him running afterschool board game clubs, hosting Family Game Nights, volunteering in the classroom as well with the PTC. Because he is boots on the ground, the kids know him, the parents know him, and that gives him a unique perspective. He wants to put students and our schools first, over political agendas that risk the already diminishing funds that we have in our budgets.

Fredo Cruz

Parent & Local Business Owner

Being both a Rocklin parent, and local business owner of a Polynesian dance studio, we are so excited for Price to be running for school board.

He is someone who truly cares about the QUALITY of our children’s education, which ultimately impacts the decisions our kids will make as they grow up.

And Price, who is a big proponent of culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion, is the ideal person to run the school board of our children who are the future of Rocklin!

Jessie Nibley

Rocklin Parent, PTC President

Price Johnson is exactly the kind of person you want on a school board: smart, reliable, caring, and dedicated in everything he does.

He has a long track record of showing up for his kids’ school and for the district as a whole and working hard to help our schools and students reach their potential.

Price is a great listener and is able to connect with people from all walks of life. His energy and focus will get the school board back to the important work of running our district responsibly.

Price is in this for all the right reasons, and I wholeheartedly endorse him for RUSD Trustee.

Lisa Acuff

Parent & Campus Volunteer

Mr. Price Johnson is focused on making our schools better for our kids and teachers.

He is an involved parent helping out with his kids at school in their classrooms and field trips, and he has been an active member of the Rocklin Elementary School PTA helping our teachers receive the support they need.

He has been a concerned parent attending our school board meetings relaying information to other parents to keep us updated on the decisions being made and voicing his and others concerns to the current board members.

Mr. Price is who we need on the Rocklin School Board to ensure the quality of our public schools continues to improve, so our children get the education they deserve.

Michele Vass

Library Advocate & Former Rocklin Planning Commissioner

As a resident who will have a student entering kindergarten soon, I pay attention to what is happening at Rocklin Unified so I can make an informed decision about where she’ll be best served when the time comes. Because I pay attention I have been saddened and shocked at the direction our school district is trending. I’ve provided written comment to the board only to see a performative acknowledgement of the comments with no discussion to their merits and swift action taken that seemed contrary to the will of the majority of the public.

I quickly realized the time for comments to the board was over and it was time to find a Trustee to represent all families in Rocklin and not outside interests – I found my neighbor Price Johnson.

Price has demonstrated in a very short time that he is a capable leader who is respectful to all and genuinely cares about each RUSD student having the educational opportunities they deserve. When I found out the extent of Price’s involvement at his kid’s school, I was blown away.

His real life contributions on the ground and in the classroom give him insight and relationships that the incumbent just doesn’t have.

Price has earned the support of the Rocklin Teachers Association and the Rocklin Chamber of Commerce, which says a lot considering they are making a statement against the record of our incumbent Trustee by endorsing him.

I fully believe that Mr. Price is right for Rocklin.
